Menacing Turmoil

There has been a lot of turmoil in my professional life since 2021 because I have been forced to stay away from my family. I live in a nuclear family with my husband and child, without any support from my extended family. Although we are originally from Varanasi, we currently live in Jaipur, and I was posted in Jodhpur. I reached out to various government authorities, including the PMO and different ministries.

Despite a circular stating that women should be placed near their families, this guideline is not being implemented in the bank. Those in charge seem oblivious to the fact that being closer to one’s hometown can significantly enhance an employee’s performance. The policy that a woman should be placed near her husband’s or father’s house, if unmarried, is also not being followed.

Despite my efforts, I have now been placed in Kota, which is still far from my family. This situation has taken a toll on my mental and physical health. **I need my family, and they need me. I truly believe that if I were with my family, my output would increase, rather than being in a place that is wreaking havoc on my well-being.**

As a writer, my main goal is to raise awareness and use my abilities in the best way possible. Honestly, I don’t love my job; I’m only doing it for financial stability, especially since we lack family support.

Although I have been lucky enough to have good supervisors, the work atmosphere can still be toxic. While some colleagues are supportive, others are quite harsh, often speaking to their juniors disrespectfully. **People talk about customer service, but first and foremost, they must treat their employees fairly. If employees are happy, then only will customers be happy.**

I believe in treating customers as human beings, not as gods. The notion that “the customer is always right” can be damaging. We should offer help to customers as fellow humans, fostering mutual respect instead of elevating them to an unrealistic status. Politeness is essential, but employees should also be treated with respect. There are instances where employees are verbally abused and disrespected, particularly in front of others.

These issues need to change. An organization must have proper rules and regulations to ensure a healthy work environment. Unfortunately, some individuals in power behave as though they are above the rules, which negatively impacts the psychology of regular employees.

**I am sharing this information based on what I see, and I believe there are many things not going in the right direction in society. It is our duty to pinpoint these issues and bring them to light; we should not normalize inappropriate behavior. Employee concerns must be addressed and heard.**
